How to remove wordpress footer?

Question by Mr: How to remove wordpress footer?
As the title says how do i remove footer in the WordPress theme Neolux?
The link to the theme is here:

It is something about the functions.php and the footer.php you have to change something in…
Can some of you guys maybe tell me how to do it or post me a guide?
Or maybe do it for me? I just want to remove the “credits” and not the “copyright” part.

you go to appearace –> edit –> footer.php

then you find the credits info and remove that.

I would copy the whole footer code and paste into a notepad, just to be sure to have it if I mess up things,
and then just play with the footer until it looks like what I want.

May I suggest you do a “Credit” page where you add the credits for the creator of the free theme?

If you look at the themes website, you’ll see that the theme is licensed under the creative commons license which actually prohibits the removal of the credits to the author. Under their terms of service, you cannot use their themes and remove the credits.

While it may be possible by editing the actual footer file, I would suggest you not do so. Developers put these credits in to promote they’re products – allowing some of the products to be free since it promotes other paid products.

If you remove credits like this, the end result is developers have no reason to release “free” themes and ultimately will start charging for them.

Think of it this way, if you wrote a book, would you like it if someone published your book but removed your name from it?

In addition to what Tim said nicer than I would have, some theme developers create their themes in a way that will break if you edit the footer by removing their links.
