Log into your blog. In the Dashboard:
You create new posts in Posts > Add New.
To add links go to Links > Add New.
To change the theme go to > Appearance > Themes. You can Add New to find new themes. But if your blog is at WordPress.com, you can’t upload new themes or plugins. You’ll need your own web hosting account to do that.
Not sure what you mean about “menu names”. Perhaps the names on the tops of the blocks in the sidebars? If so, Appearance > Widgets. By default, the theme forces certain widgets to display in the sidebars. BEFORE you start messing around with them, make a note of what’s currently displayed because once you start dragging widgets into the sidebar, you’re going to blow away what was there and you’ll need to recreate them simply by dragging the widget into the sidebar. You can also change the title of each widget, if that’s what you meant by menu names.
However, you can also create your own real menus. That’s in Appearance > Menus. You give the menu a name and then you can put pages, categories, links, custom URLs and posts into the menu. By default, posts don’t show up on the left side. But at the top of the page, click the Screen Options tab over on the top right and you’ll see a row of checkboxes. Just check the Posts box and then you’ll see the Posts. If your theme supports a top navigation bar, you can replace it with your own custom menu by assigning a Primary Menu from the list box. Any item that you put into a menu can be renamed. Also, go back to the widgets page and you’ll see a Custom Menu widget on the left. Drag it into a sidebar and then select the menu you want to display within the widget.
WordPress is the bomb!
